Book Review : The Heir and The Spare

HELLO everybody, I know what you guys are probably thinking :" 2 reviews in a row when it's usually every couple of months. What is happening??" HAHAHA I'm being lame so please bear with me :) I was thinking that I might as well do one now before school starts to get busy again and consume all of my free time. Besides, I just finished reading this book and I totally love it and decide why not write a review of it too !! So here goes nothing

Hmm.. Where should I start ?? I've always loved reading or watching stories that involve royalty in it. For example, I love love the Prince and me movie series even after they changed almost everybody in the cast so of course, my fav movie was the first one with Julia Stiles in it. Who here loves that movie too ?? Put your hands up my brother and sister !! Okay, anyway my point was I have alway been drawn into these royalty romance stories so when I saw this book, I just know I need to read it.

Well first, I find that the story is not too draggy or too long. I won't say that it was instant love but it's those kinds of attractions that you can really see. And I really like the pace that they took for their relationship. Sometimes it's hard to read a story where the main characters just met and then bam they fall in love because it's very hard to believe that kind of things happen in real life. Not saying they don't though, just saying that it is pretty damn rare. See, I'm not that cynical ;)

Another thing that I like is, of course, the Prince aka Edmund !! He's different from those other prince and girl story as he is not the heir to the throne. He is actually the second price of England. He is like fictional Prince Harry in this book. I love how the author put in all these fun facts about history and England through Edmund. I always love some good history facts !! It's very easy to fall in love with him too so if you're gonna be reading this book, better prepare yourself for some Edmund lovinnnn

Next, our main girl, Evangeline but called Evie by everybody. I mean come on, isn't that such a lovely name. Reminds me of how the kids from Nanny Mcphee 1 pronounce it, so everytime I see that name I can just hear that voice in my head saying "Evangeline" with that  cute accent and pronunciation. I like how strong she is as a person plus she thinks that David Tennant was the best doctor in doctor who so, of course, I liked her straight away

Lastly, I really like how the problems in this book are not the same as other books that involve a celebrity or royalty. The author didn't make the paparazzi and the press be such a big deal like I have seen in so many books. Their problems are much bigger and I feel is more personal. I mean I know being in the spotlight is probably very hard and cause problems, that was briefly shown here but it wasn't made into such a big deal by the characters.

I'm gonna give this book a 5/5 and it is definitely on my favourite royalty books list. Keep a look out for her new book "Everyday Magic" which is a spin-off of this book that includes Preston, one of Evie and Edmund's close friend. I'm really excited for this book since I really like him in this book and I can't wait to see his own story unfold.

SYNOPSIS

Family can be complicated. Especially when skeletons from the past pop up unexpectedly. For American Evie Gray, finding out her deceased mother had a secret identity, and not one of the caped crusader variety, was quite the surprise. Evie’s mom had a secret life before she was even born, one that involved tiaras.

In this modern day fairytale, Evie is on a path to figure out who her mom really was, while discovering for herself what the future will hold. Charged with her late mother’s letters, Evie embarks on a quest into her past. The first item on the list is to attend Oxford, her mom’s alma mater. There, Evie stumbles upon a real life prince charming, Edmund Stuart the second Prince of England, who is all too happy to be the counterpart to her damsel in distress.

Evie can’t resist her growing attraction to Edmund as they spend more time together trying to unravel the clues her mother left behind. But, when doubts arise as to whether or not Edmund could ever be with an untitled American, what really ends up unraveling is Evie’s heart. When Evie uncovers all the facts about her mom’s former life, she realizes her mom’s past can open doors she never dreamed possible, doors that can help her be with Edmund. But, with everything now unveiled, Evie starts to crack under the pressure of new family responsibilities and the realization that her perfect prince may want her for all the wrong reasons.

Book Review : The Summer Games: Settling The Score

Hey guys !! I haven't done one of these in a while and I did promised you guys a review of this book. So here goes nothing, sorry in advance if this review doesn't turn out well :|

" Sometimes the best way to get out of a slump is to get a good hump!"

R.S Grey has been one of my favourite writer. Her first book that I read was The Design as I was given a free copy in advance for a review. So when I heard about her newest book, I know I have to read it, plus look at that cover !! I mean who doesn't like to stare at that hot body *heart eyes*
I love how the story flows and her style of writing is very easy to follow and not confusing at all. The way she describes her character is well written and carried out that I could really imagine them in my heads.

The other thing I like is how I was able to connect with Andie, however on some occasion I felt that she was a tad bit overdramatic but other than that it was amazing. What I wasn't ready for was how fast I fell in love with Frederick. He has a british accent (which coincidentally is one of my kryptonite!!) and is a olympic swimmer that already has a few gold medals under his belt. Another character that I really enjoy reading was his sister, Georgie. She is such a fun character to read and I really hope she might have her own book soon (*wink wink*) (This is me hinting to you rachel !! hahaha)

Anyway, I would give this book a 5/5 as I really enjoy reading it. And I'm looking forward to more books by Rachel :) Hope you guys enjoy that and as always, any kind of feedback is welcome :)

Title : Settling The Score (The Summer Games #1)
Release Date : 2 May 2016
Genre : Romance, Contemporary, Sports
Author : R.S. Grey
Rating : 5/5
Goodreads

Synopsis

From the USA TODAY Bestselling author of Scoring Wilder, comes a sexy new standalone novel.

As an Olympic rookie, Andie Foster has spent far more time in her cleats than between the sheets. For 21 years, her Friday nights have consisted of blocking shots rather than taking them. But now that she's landed in Rio, she's ready to see for herself if the rumors about the Olympic Village are true:

• The athletes are all sex-crazed maniacs...
• The committee passes out condoms like candy...
• The games continue long after the medals have been handed out...
As Andie walks the line between rumor and reality, she's forced into the path of Frederick Archibald, a decorated Olympic swimmer and owner of a sexy British accent--too bad he's unavailable in a way that "it's complicated" doesn't even begin to explain.

In other words: off limits.

It doesn't matter that he has abs that could bring peace to the Middle East and a smile that makes even the Queen blush; Andie fully intends on keeping her focus on the soccer field. But the Village is small. Suffocating. Everywhere Andie goes, Freddie happens to be there--shirtless, wet from the pool, and determined to show her a whole new meaning of the phrase "international affairs".

Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Tv Series Review : Jessica Jones

Jessica. I know your secrets. I know about your friends, about your gifts.
Jessica. Jessica Jones. I know Everything.
-Kilgrave

So I finishes this show in just 2 days and I'm really hooked. For those who doesn't know who Jessica Jones, let me try my best to explain it to you guys. This is Jessica Jones in my opinion : She's a retired superhero with super strength and ability to fly/jump real high. After trying out the whole superhero thing, she decided to become a P.I. instead and she's rather really good at it. So a year after an incident that happened that kinda messed her up more than she already is, a man from her past return. So throughout the series, we learned more about her past, and we also learn about her connection with the villain in this season.

First of all let me say that this superhero show is different from other superhero shows I've watched before. I'm a big fan of Arrow, The Flash and of course now The Legends of Tomorrow, just fyi ;)
Okay, so what makes it different to me is that it handles more with real-life situation as compared to other marvel superheroes. It talked about abuse and rape and it's really great the way they handle this situation. And Jessica Jones is a bad ass. You can see from the trailer how bad ass she is but I love that the more episode I watched, it slowly showed me how vulnerable she is too.

Here's my Pros and Cons about this show !!
Things that I LOVE about it :

Hmm... I think first of all I just love the cast. I can't imagine these character being played by anyone else. Krysten Ritter is the perfect Jessica Jones. I know her from the movie "Vamps" where she star alongside Alicia Silverstone, and also from the tv show "Don't Trust the B**** in Apartment 23". She did a really good job portraying Jessica Jones, way more than I expected tbh. Next there is of course David Tennant !! Wasn't really aware of how awesome he is until I watched Doctor Who but WOW he killed it as Kilgrave. *SPOILERS ALERT* And I know there's been a lot of debate over the shipping between Kilgrave and Jessica. I find it hard for myself to hate him as a villain because when you find out about his past, you kinda feel bad about him and you sympathize with him. There's also the part where you can see how vulnerable he is because of his love for Jessica, I can feel his pain when Jessica rejected him. But in the end, I can't really oversee all the shits he's done, it's just too much and too violent for me. *END OF SPOILER* And let's not forget about Trish, Jessica's BFF, who is played by Rachael Taylor. I really love all of the cast but those 3 are my favourites.

Next thing would be the plot. I haven't read the comics or any comics in fact, don't hate me but I just haven't. But the storyline is good, it's not too draggy and not too rush at the same time. Really looking forward to Season 2 because there's a few more thing that they left at a cliffhanger that I need to know about. Melissa Rosenberg did a really good job with this show.

And of course I like that I can binge watch it all instead of waiting for it every week and sometimes there's also breaks that will take months (like OUAT, for anyone fans out there who knows my pain). That's the good thing about it being picked up by Netflix I guess. And I'm really happy that I get to have access to Netflix now because if I didn't try it out, I wouldn't have started on Jessica Jones.

The Cons of this show :

I'm not really sure if I have anything I hate or don't like about it. I'm seriously brainstroming right now to find something I don't like and I can't seem to think of any or maybe cause I'm hungry and tired now that I can't think properly hahahaha . But I would love to hear your opinion about this show !!

Anyway, I'm just gonna end the review here since I kinda sucked at writing them. Would really love to hear your feedbacks and check out my Instagram and Twitter for more of me rambling :D

Book Review : A Work In Progress

Hmm.. Where do I start with this one ?? My mind is all jumbled up after reading the book so let's start on how I know about this book I guess.
To be honest with you, I don't really watch Connor's videos, I don't really stay up to date with his posts (but to be fair, I don't really follow and stay up to date with Celebrities or YouTubers. I only followed max 10 famous people on my instagram hahahaha) But I know who Connor is, how he looks like and I've watched a couple videos and I remember thinking what a great smile on that cute face :p

Anyways, I wasn't really interested in reading non-fiction before. Most of the books that I read is Romance, mostly Adult Romance because some of the teenage love story are sometimes too cliche or expected or repeated but yeah, I've never really been into memoir or auto-biography before, probably cause I'm lacking in the love section of my life so I get my feels from hot billionaire like Damien Stark ;) Okay, need to stop getting side tracked !! So yeah, my first biography book is 'Is Everybody Hanging Out Without Me' By Mindy Kaling (which btw, I did a review too if you want to check it out :D) and ever since then I've been more into biographies. And I know he published a book and saw it a couple of times on instagram so I decided why not since the cover is really pretty. I really enjoyed the book, therefore here I am writing a review close to midnight and I got work tomorrow morning but I can't not write it. Here's my review :

" Who Are You ?
Answer : You are who you are in this given moment. Label-less, Limitless. "
- Page 135

The way Connor sees the world and everything around him amazes me. I've been trying lately to not let my insecurities get in my way. I know that no matter what I do, people will judge anyway and I've accepted that but Connor explains it in such a manner that I realize that I still have a long way to go to fully accept myself. He's only 23 years old but somehow he's manage to capture all the shits that some adults might not be able to and that deserves a good pat on the shoulder. His words inspired me and I hope that it inspires other too. And not only that he's cute he also gives good advice for many things in your life and I'll know I will never forget about it as it is quite memorable to me.

But the thing that I like most about this book is the photos inside. Those photos helps to tell the story better and there are beautiful photos inside that deserves to be look at. I recommend this book to any non-fiction lover out there. Don't let his age or his popularity stops you from reading it because I know there are some of you out there that's a little bit ehh about this book because you think he's still too young to know shit or because he's a youtuber and he's just trying to gain more money from his popularity. Toss those judgment out for a second and give this book a go !!

Movie Review : The Girl in the Book

I first saw Emily Vancamp on Brothers & Sisters playing Rebecca Harper but back then I was super clueless about the internet and have no idea who she is until I saw her on Revenge playing Emily/Amanda Clarke, and her performance on that show is amazing. I think one of the reasons why I love Revenge so much is because of her. Most of you might have not seen her other than in Revenge but she did play in a Hallmark movie once. I kinda made a shrieking sound when I first saw the trailer cause she's one of my favorite actress and I'm so happy to see her to be a part of other projects. The movie is called Beyond The Blackboard. It's a really good movie and you guys should check it out :)

Anyway, I didn't know Emily had another movie coming out this year so I was surprised when I saw it online. This movie is about a 28-29 years old woman named Alice Harvey who is working as an assistant editor in a publishing house while at the same time is a writer who's trying her best to write a novel. The movie takes places in two different timeline : 'The Now' and '15 Years Before'. The adult Alice is played by Emily while the younger Alice is played by Ana Mulvoy-Ten.

Based on a True Story (Wikipedia says it so I hope it's true!!), this movies takes us on a journey where Alice is trying to find herself in the world and as a person while at the same time we are taken back to a part of her life that affects her so much. The Now is where her past starts to meet her present while the 15 Years before is when she met with an aspiring author named Milan Daneker played by Michael Nyqvist who was under her father's agency. He offered to help her with her writing but in times he changed and I kinda cringed during a specific scene in the movie (you'll know it when you watch it). I guess those times scarred her and makes her live an unfulfilling life where she goes around having one night stand to maybe feel something. But then she met this really nice and good looking (with a SIX PACK) guy, Emmett (kinda reminds me of Emmett from Switched at Birth hahahaha) who she and I both knows deserve way more then what she's giving him. We also get to see when she knows she needs to change and that's when you know she starts to chase away her demons and gets to experience her true love.

A big round of applause to both actress who played Alice. Their performance was amazing and real. Definitely a memorable one to me. I would really recommend you guys to watch this movie.
Rate : 4.5/5

Director : Marya Cohn
Running Time : 86 Minutes
Rated : Unrated (Have some strong languages and sex)

Notes From Me : My first ever movie review you guys !! This movie kinda inspired me to write this review and I really hope you guys like it. There might be some grammatical error so I'm sorry in advance :D And of course any feedback is welcome, would really love to hear your opinions on my review and on the movie or on any other things too :)

Book Review : Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me ? (And Other Concerns)

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kalling

This is the first time I ever read autobiographies or memoirs kind of books. And I have no idea why I didn't start reading them sooner. I bought this book because I keep seeing her other book 'Why Not Me?' on instagram and I thought I'll give it a try because I kinda like the cover (plus it's blue !!). And that's when I saw that she published this book first so I thought I need to read this first before I read the other one. So here's what I thought of this book !!

When I first start reading it, I was kind of intrigued by her life and by a few chapters I was hooked. I finish 80% of the book in just an hour and a half. The way she tells her life is interesting and it doesn't bore me as I thought books about people's life would instantly bored the hell out of me.The thing about this book is that it's funny but without all those dirty jokes or with any used of curse words inside. I find that very refreshing since most comedians these days like to curse a lot. One of the funny thing in this book is when she was talking about how she didn't really understand "hook-up" and it's relatable as I'm as confused as her.

I was actually surprised when I read that she was one of the writer for the tv series The Office. Wasn't really big on watching the show because my mom got me hooked on crime shows like all of the CSIs ( I always thought Horatio is the MAN!!) and of course Criminal Minds (Pretty sure some of their episodes scarred me for life but thanks for introducing me to the genius Reed, mom !)

Anyways, I absolutely adore this book and it's a nice change from all those romance books I've been reading. Mindy Kalling succeeded in making me smile and laugh at her horrible moments in life when I was in a bus full of people, they probably think I'm a little crazy but at least I'm reading a book you judgemental a**holes :D

And thanks for making me like this kind of books Mindy and I can't wait to start on your other book. She also made me to want to read other biographies book and I was looking through it online and I can't decide if I should get A Work In Progress by Connor Franta or I Hate MySelfie by Shane Dawson. Let me know which book I should get next guys :)

So this is my third book review on this blog, it's slightly longer and more rambling from me but I hope you like it :) And of course any feedbacks would be awesome !!

EXCERPT
Slowly I turn to find a tall guy standing before me, and it takes everything I have not to

roll my eyes.

Most of the dudes at this Halloween party tonight are beyond obnoxious, either wearing

the most ridiculous costumes ever or behaving like assholes. Something about a mask and

drinking too much booze on the spookiest night of the year brings out the worst in them.

This guy, in his sleazy pimp costume, is no exception. And wasn’t his costume played out

already years ago? Made out of cheap crushed purple velvet trimmed in leopard print, with wide

collars and bell bottom pants, topped by a matching purple velvet and leopard trimmed hat. He’s

wearing mirrored sunglasses so I can’t see his eyes, which makes me think he’s kind of shady.

The grin on his face is huge, in that giant, shit-eating way good looking guys smile.

Because he so is. Good looking. He knows it too.

Oh, and he has a cane. That he’s pointing right at me at about mid-thigh.

Like he’s trying to lift the hem of my skirt.

I take a step away from him and send him my most evil glare. “You look ridiculous.”

“You look hot as fuck.” He lowers the cane and takes a step toward me, that confident

grin he’s wearing perfectly matching his horrific costume. He looks like a greedy pimp. Or what

we regular people think a greedy pimp must look like.

“Eloquent,” I tell him, crossing my arms in front of my chest. I ignore the little fizz of

pleasure his comment gives me. I should not like that he called me hot as fuck. How crude. He’s a

pig.

His head tilts down and he actually reaches up to push his sunglasses down the bridge of

his nose so he can…what? Get a better look at me? He’s got a lot of nerve. “Nice cleavage, angel."

I don’t have what constitutes as much cleavage yet somehow, he makes me feel dirty for

wearing a costume with a low neckline. Must be his tone of voice. Or more likely the lecherous

way he’s checking me out. Do girls really find his behavior attractive? Granted, he’s good

looking from what I can tell but his attitude is shit.

“Do you come by the sleazy comments naturally? Or are you powered by the costume?” I

bat my eyelashes like I’m as innocent as my halo implies I am.

He pushes his sunglasses back up, covering suddenly thunderous blue eyes. He’d seemed

infinitely amused with himself, with the situation only a moment ago and I’m surprised at the

sudden shift. “My flirting skills are in the toilet with this costume tonight, I swear to fucking

God,” he mutters.

His blunt honesty makes me laugh and he smiles slowly in return. “Newsflash. Girls

don’t find pimps that attractive. We’re taught from a young age to run in the opposite direction

when we spot one.”

“I’ve discovered that.” He rubs his chin, cupping it with his thumb and index finger and I

watch those fingers move in barely contained fascination. He has nice hands. Wide palms, long

fingers…

“You run into many pimps?”

His deep voice breaks through my thoughts and I give a slight shake of my head. “You’re

my first.”

The faintly leering grin is back, just like that. Inside I grow cold. He’s too cocky for me.

Too sure of himself. I’ve dealt with enough of these types to last me a lifetime. “Well, let me

introduce myself—”

Book Review : The DUFF by Kody Keplinger

Two days ago, a friend of mine recommended this book to me. At first I was skeptical about the plot line. I started reading the book at midnight as I thought that I would only read a few chapters but this book got me hooked from the first chapter and I just can't put it down. So I finish this book by 2 am and I gotta say that I LOVE this book. I feel like I can relate to this story as I feel like I am the duff with my group of friends. And I think that many girls can also relate and understand the story better as not every girl always feel so confident, sometimes they will have a low self-esteem and that is when they feel like a DUFF. And I love how the story progress, it didn't go too fast or too slow. The love story between Wesley and Bianca is amazing and it teaches us that you don't have to change to have someone to like you cause there will be someone out there who will love you for who you really are. The part where Wesley wrote the note to Bianca is so sweet and it shows that someone can change you for the better. So overall, I think this story is amazing and I would recommend you to read it.

This paragraph is gonna be filled with spoiler so if you haven't read the book I suggest you minimize the screen and start reading. And when you are finished you could come back and tell me what you think about the story. So the story is about Bianca, a girl who is not your typical perfect girl with the perfect body or the perfect hair. She is sassy and she doesn't care about what people think about her. She knows she is not the perfect girl but it was never a problem to her until one night Wesley, the school playboy talk to her and basically told her that she is the DUFF and explain why he is talking to her. His rule is that 'Wesley Rush doesn't chase girls, they chase him'. When problems at home is becoming worse with her mom asking for a divorce and her dad relapsing to alcohol, she turns to Wesley to take her mind off all of her problems. What started out as one mistake kiss turns to sex for the two of them. Bianca didn't tell her bestfriends and she sometimes ditch them to hang out with Wesley. They start to spend more and more time together. This causes her relationship with her friends to fall apart. After a while she finally realize that the everyone feels like a DUFF and even Wesley have his own problems at home, she breaks thing off with Wesley, thinking that she's only a conquest for him. And to top it all off, her longtime crush, Toby Tucker asks her out. She is happy because she thinks that he is the right guy for her. When Wesley found out about the new couple, he became angry but he also changed. He decided to make things right at home and to stop sleeping around. One day in class, Bianca got a note on her table. At first she thought it was from her bestfriend but when she opens the note she knows that it is definitely not from her best friend. The words on the notes are 'Wesley Rush doesn't chase girls, but I'm chasing you'. When her bestfriend, she and Toby went out to the famous hangout place, The Nest, Toby realized that she has feelings for Wesley and vice versa. Toby admitted that he also still have feelings for his ex and he tried to forget about her by dating Bianca. She admits her feeling for Wesley and warning him that this who she really are and that she won't change just for him. So that is kinda the overall of the book. I hope my review is good enough. I would love to hear your feedbacks and comment :D

My message to girls who feel like they're the duff is that you are not a duff alone in this world. There are many guys and girls that feels the same way as you do. So what if you are a duff ? You are you and you are amazing just the way you are. You shouldn't care about what people think about you, you should only care about opinion's from the people that care about you. To have someone to love you, YOU MUST LOVE YOURSELF FIRST ! :D So be happy and smile :)
