EXCERPT

When a picture of the pond pops up on the screen, my breath hitches in my chest. With the moon
beaming down and reflecting off the glass-like water, it’s more than beautiful. It’s tranquil, peaceful, but most of all, it reminds me of her. I can almost see us there, our feet hanging off the side, our shoulders grazing every once in a while. She looked so gorgeous in the moonlight. I wish I had a picture of that, but this is a close second.

“That looks like something straight out of a magazine,” I whisper before I realize what I’m saying.

“Hopefully, it will be.” She laughs.

“How much for a print of that?” I ask.

“Really? You’d want—”

“Yes,” I cut her off, “I’d love to have one of your pictures.”

“Well, it’s yours. I’ll order the prints once I’m back in New York and have them sent directly to you.”

“Let me pay.”

“No, it’s my pleasure. Really.”

“Give me your phone,” I instruct, and she willingly hands it over. I put my phone number in as a new contact and shoot myself a text before handing it back. “I have your number now, so I’ll text you my
address.”

“Okay,” she says, smiling.

“Okay.” For the hundredth time today, I find myself staring at her lips for longer than necessary, wanting to bend down and kiss the shit out of her. She swallows hard and I abruptly break my gaze. Turning around, I leave in search of something to do before I get myself in trouble.

About The Author

First things first, we're the realest.

Oh, wait. Iggy already used that one.

Well, let's see...

What some people don't know is there are two of us and we're both Jennifers. How lucky are we? The most common name from the 70's! Our parents were so original.

We found each other through Twilight and tornadoes. Sounds like a crazy combination, but it's true. We were roaming around in the same groups of people on social media, but we hadn't really became
friends. But that all changed on a stormy Oklahoma night when we noticed that we were both
experiencing the same tornado warnings.

We met a week later for lunch and the rest is history. We already knew we had the whole Twilight thing in common, but what we learned that day is that we both loved music and traveling. Together, we've been everywhere. Well, not everywhere, but a lot of places...Seattle, Forks, LA, New York, Chicago, Philly, Nashville, and New Orleans, where our hearts reside.

About six months after we met, we also realized we both had a passion for writing. When we started
outlining our first story, we thought that would be it. One story and done. So, we dumped everything we loved into those 100,000 words. If you're familiar with the term "crack fic", that was kind of what it was for us. We had fun with it and let ourselves live on those pages.

But it was like Lays potato chips.

We couldn't write just one.

So, twenty stories later, here we are--publishing our first novel. And how crazy is it that we went back to the beginning.

Finding Focus was originally a Twilight Fan Fic titled Southern Comfort.

Cover Reveal : Chasing Spring

I thought I’d left Blackwater, Texas behind for good. I didn’t belong in the small town, but my dad
wouldn’t listen. He dragged me back home in his beat-up truck and dropped a bomb along the way:
Chase Matthews was moving in with us. He was the golden boy of my high school, my former best
friend, and the last person I wanted sleeping across the hall. His presence was too great a reminder of
the ghosts I was trying to forget.

I didn’t ask for a hero. I don’t want to be saved.

To me, Lilah Calloway meant late nights sneakin’ out, moonlit hair, and sparklers in July. She was my best friend until the day she left and I’d assumed Blackwater had seen the last of her. Then, like a
tempest, she rolled back into town for the final half of senior year. The chopped hair and dark devil-
may-care attitude warned most people away, but I knew if I fought hard enough, I could find the lost
girl.

I didn’t want to be her hero. Some girls don’t need to be saved.

About The Author

I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way, I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things... everyday.

I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors include Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things "funny". Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.

Notes From Me : I've been following R.S Grey works for a while now. And I've read a few of her books and so far I loved every single one of it. She have her way with making characters that are very relatable and easy to fall in love with. I can't wait for this new book, I mean look at that cover ! It's beautiful and simple :)

Cover Reveal : F U Cancer

Lucy has always been a good girl. The most hardcore thing she's done in her life was falling for a
divorced man ten years her senior.

But he was the love of her life and she married him. When her Peter Pan of a husband decided to
divorce her, she thought it was her chance to start anew. That was until she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Besides looking like Britney circa 2007, she is taking it well, real well. You might see her walk around the hospital during chemo sessions with bright colored wigs and outrageous t-shirts that seem to shock the most conservative employees. One of them reads F U CANCER.

Check out this Cover ! I'm love it and it totally intrigued me :)

EXCERPT

I found him leaning against my car in the parking lot.

I got a Sixteen Candles flashback. He looked just as cool as Jake Ryan. The only difference was that he was leaning against my car, not his.

Oh, to be sixteen again. And make the same mistakes over and over. I wanted to get in the car with him and make out until I couldn't feel my lips anymore. I instinctively touched my lips and smiled to myself.

I met his eyes and smiled, but he gave me a serious, dark look.

Uh-oh. This wasn't going to be good. The butterflies in my stomach would be dead and gone pretty
soon.

I let out a breath, mentally preparing to his apology.

It was a mistake, we shouldn't have...I shouldn't have started it. Ugh.

He looked nervous, and so was I. This was going to be a mess.

Then, suddenly, I knew how to break the tension.

“If you're hitting me up in this parking lot to score more crack, I'm sorry to say you're on the wrong
track,” I told him, smiling, as I approached the car.

“What?” He looked confused as if the thought hadn’t even crossed his mind. Huh.

“Come on, you already went through your whole bag of candy or most of it, and you want to know if I can get you some more.”

“More?”

“Yes, more. You want more Bonkers, right? I should have known better. I'm basically feeding an addict now. Shame on me,” I teased.

“I didn't want to ask for more candy,” he laughed.

“Is this about the other night?” I asked him, unable to hide the frown on my face.

“Yes,” he replied. He just stared at me but added nothing else.

“I know what you're going to say,” I told him.

“You do?” he asked and gave me a suspicious look.

“Yes. It's okay, really. You don’t have to say anything.”

“What do you think I'm going to say?”

“You’re going to say you think it was a mistake…we shouldn't have done it, yada yada yada,” I said
gesturing. He cracked a smile. “You’re going to say it was just a spur of the moment, which it was. It was a great spur of the moment.”

He nodded in agreement.

“It was a great spur of the moment!” He flashed a charming smile.

“It was, wasn’t it?” I leaned against the car next to him, feeling a little more relaxed. He didn’t seem too upset about the kiss, after all. I felt suddenly lighter as if a weight had been lifted from my shoulders.

“Yes, it was a spur of the moment. But it wasn't a mistake,” he said. He stuffed his hands in the pockets of his jeans and gave me a look that made my stomach flip, and my heart took off, happily drumming away.

Now I was just dying to hear the rest, but he just kept staring at me.

“It wasn't?” I asked and he just shook his head slightly, failing to contain a smug smile.

“The reason why I ran out the other night,” he started, “well part of it has to with the fact that I'm a
doctor and you're a patient here. I go back and forth thinking is not very professional of me to engage
with you–”

I started laughing. I couldn't help it.

“What?”

“It sounds like you're the teacher and I'm the underage school girl,” I laughed.

He laughed with me, and I loved the way his eyes brightened when he did.

“I don't think we are breaking any rules. Technically. Well, I’m not completely sure, but it wouldn’t seem like it.” I gave him a flirty grin.

He placed an arm on top of the car and he turned around, leaning toward me. He was dangerously close, and I had to remind myself to keep my horny hormones in check.

“Well, when I got home I regretted leaving, but another reason why I did it is because I thought we were rushing it. Actually, let me rephrase that: I was the one rushing things–”

“You left because you thought we were going to fast?”

“Well…yes. I mean I might have gone a little too far that night. It doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy every
second of it, but I felt like I was the one pouncing you.”

I burst out laughing because he sounded ridiculous. Did he think I regretted him coming after me in the pool? Quite the contrary. He stopped talking, and I saw his eyes fixated on my mouth. A devilish grin spread across his face. My laughter subsided, and my breath hitched. The way he was looking at me made me feel like I hadn’t felt in a while.

He looked at me as if I was desirable. I hadn’t been desired in a long time. I could have understood if he had been attracted to me under normal circumstances, but I was not the same Lucy anymore.

Therefore, I had no idea how could he possibly be attracted to me.

“I like you, Lucy. I want to go out with you. We'd probably better keep it on the down low, but I want to see you. Away from here.” He looked around in the parking lot, but we were alone. He then looked at me as if waiting for an answer, but I was still processing his words.

“What? You’re crazy,” I told him. There was both shock and thrill in the tone of my voice.  I was
perplexed and flattered.

“Am I? Why? You’re still single, right?” It sounded like he was mocking me. Ha ha. I frowned and
narrowed my eyes at him. I didn’t understand what game he was playing. Was he really asking me out?

This was crazy. Bananas. Completely idiotic.

“Why? For one, I’m sick.”

“I’m around sick people all the time,” he said, the corner of his lips twitching up.

“I’m toxic. Literally.”

“Nahhhh. You’re not that bad. I don’t think your toxicity levels can get in the way of dating.”

I couldn’t believe it. I thought he was just going to apologize for not calling me. I never thought he’d say he wants to see me. Me. Did he have any idea of what he was asking? He needed a good dose of reality.

Time to lay down the ugly truth.

“You want to date me, huh? Some days I can barely hold myself up together. I have no hair left save for my eyebrows and eyelashes and when I look at my reflection, I feel like I’m staring at an alien. I have an ugly looking breast that reminds me every second of my life what’s wrong with me. I’m at the lowest I’ve ever been. And you want to date me?”

My words left him completely unfazed. He still wore a silly smile on his face. I had just given him a half dozen reasons why he should leave me alone and he didn’t seem worried in the slightest.

“Don’t you realize I’m probably the most qualified person? I’m indirectly a pro at all the things you just listed. No one can understand it better than me because I deal with it every day.” The tone of his voice was cheerful, but then a thought clouded his eyes. “Well, I guess the only person who could be more qualified than me would be a cancer patient or a cancer survivor because they would really know what it means to have experienced what you’re going through. But I’m a close second.”

He sounded almost cocky. This was a side of him I had never seen before. I knew I should have been
turned off by it, but I instead I was intrigued by this super confident version of Dr. F. I hated to admit it.

“I don’t think–”

“How about Friday?” he asked.

“I can’t.”

“You can’t or you’re making up some kind of excuse in that pretty alien head of yours?”

I broke into a smile. “No, I really have plans. Family dinner.”

The moment he laid eyes on Abigale Colebrook, he knew he had to have her. And the
moment he kissed her, he knew no one would get in his way. It didn’t matter that
her husband was the very man he came to do business with, the very man who
controlled her every move.

He was Astaroth, one of the seven princes of the underworld, commander of forty
legions, and the leader of the seven armies--no one could take from him what he

EXCERPT

He turned and smiled down at Abby. Her beauty would steal his heart, if he even had
one worth stealing. “Well, it’s an Imp, they aren’t very high up on the demonic food
chain. I’m really looking for something a lot more special with amazing beauty and
uniqueness. Not unlike yourself.” His hand came up and brushed along the side of
her cheek.

Her eyes closed and her face nuzzled against his hand, a gentle smile spreading
across her lips. “Laird asked me to come down here and show you what he has to
offer.”

“Did he now? Well, I guess I’m luckier than I thought.” He held out his hand for her
to take. If he was going to walk beside a beautiful woman, then he was going to
touch her in any way he could.

She glanced down at his large, outstretched hand, contemplating whether or not she
should take it. After all, he was a guest, and obviously foreign. Perhaps it was
customary for guests to hold hands in his country. Okay, she was grasping at straws,
but any excuse she had to touch this magnificent man, she was surely going to take.

She placed her small hand into his and they began walking the long length of
storage.

As they walked hand in hand, it became apparent he was looking for something
specific.

“So, Roth, that’s an unusual first name?”

“My actual name is Astaroth, but it’s a mouthful, so I go by Roth.”

“Astaroth, as in a prince of Hell coming forth in the shape of a fouled angel, sitting
upon an infernal dragon, carrying a viper in his right hand?” She smiled up at him
and gave a curt laugh as she spoke. Who would name their child Astaroth? How odd.

“I haven’t actually ridden a dragon in years, but that’s me.”

She had to laugh at his statement. “Oh, really?” She stopped and pulled back, yet
didn’t release his hand to look him up and down.

“Are you saying I don’t look like a prince of Hell?” He looked down at his casual
jeans, boots, and black t-shirt. Not exactly the attire of royalty, but showing up with
a crown made of human bones would probably scare her off, and that was the last
thing he wanted to do.

She stood on her tiptoes and ran her hand along the scruff on his face. “Hmm, I’ll
give you the devilish good looks and charm, that’s for sure.”

His hand came up and covered hers. “Is that all you’ll give me?”

His words sent a flood of heat to her belly and a tingle of anticipation between her
legs. There was no denying his meaning as he spoke to her. He wanted much more
than to just hold her hand. The moment seemed to last an eternity as they silently
stared into each other’s eyes, neither wanting to be the first to break contact.

Neither one could answer the question, but the answer was the same for both of
them. Each would give the other anything they could ever want, all either had to do
was ask, and there would be no turning back.

Their moment was interrupted by the sound of footsteps coming down the long
aisle they were standing in. Abby knew it was Laird; he had a very distinct and
powerful walk. She tried to pull away, fearful her husband would find them in a near
embrace, but Roth pulled her in closer. So close, their bodies were now flush from
chest to knee.

“When can I see you again?” His voice was barely above a whisper, nothing that
would ever be overheard, especially by human ears.

“You can’t, I’m sorry.”

EXCERPT

“Does this mean what I think it means?”

My head shakes on his chest when he laughs. I look up at him and flick his nose.

“Yeah, princess. Go find it.”

I bite the inside of my cheek then press a hard kiss to his lips, hop off the couch, and run to grab my
laptop. Once I have it, I sit at the kitchen table and power it on, tapping my fingers anxiously. Liam
stands behind me and places his hands on my shoulders, gently rubbing them, his thumbs kneading into my back. My head falls forward for a moment, and I let him take my stress away.

Too excited to wait any longer, I roll my head back up and type in the address bar. Once I scroll through the website and see one that stands out, I point at it. “You like it?”

“I don’t care. I already told you this.”

“Liam, it’s a house, not a shirt. You have to have an opinion.”

“My opinion is that I don’t care what the house looks like as long as you’re in it.”

God, I love this man. He always said that we’d buy a house when he finished with his tour. In my mind, I was prepared to wait, so there was no way I could contain my excitement that I get to start house hunting now. I’ve always had this vision of what I want my house to look like.

“Give me something. Anything. Please, Lee. I want you to like it, too.”

“All right.” He kisses the top of my head and sits next to me. “I want privacy. If there’s not a fence already, I’ll build one, and I want some land. I don’t want the neighbors to be able to look over and see me fucking you.”

“Ha-ha.”

“Think I’m joking?” The screeching of the metal chair legs pierces my ears when he turns it so my body is in front of his. He grips my upper arms, looking right at me to make sure I see him, too. “I’ve gone seven years not being able to have you whenever I want you. Seven horrific years of fucking my own handalmost daily when I only got to be inside you every three or four months. Do you have any idea how much I want you? Constantly.” He answers without giving me a chance to speak as his fingers tighten on my arms. “You are always on my mind. Your face. Your smile. Your smartass mouth. Your body. And just thinking about you constantly makes me hard. Can you imagine how it’s going to be living together, waking up next to each other, and sleeping in the same bed every night?”

I squirm in my chair, wetness quickly dampening my underwear. He trails a couple of fingers down my arm and grabs my wrist then places my hand on his rock hard dick. With his hand on top of mine, he squeezes.

“It’s always like this for you. Only you. Doesn’t matter how many whores or groupies walk around backstage half naked. You’re the only one who can ever do this to me. Always have been and always will be. And if I know I get to come home and touch you, love you, fuck you every day for the rest of my life … Princess, it doesn’t matter where it is or what it looks like as long as you’re there.”

INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR

I got the chance to interview the author, Ms. Santana and she's very fast to respond and very nice. I hope you guys like the questions :)

Hey Sara ! I'm so excited to hear that your book is being published and by one of a well know bookstagrammer. Could you tell us the story on how this happened ??

It seems like a fluke to me! I started my blog over 3 years ago, as a sort of response to a college professor that I had. She was SO anti-YA and it drove me insane. I hated it. I have a lot of passion for young adult literature and so I started my blog as sort of an…angry girl rant about how awesome YA is. Obviously it turned into way more than that, way more than what I had expected! The instagram is a HUGE part of my blog, probably the biggest part, and I just sort of stumbled into that too. I figured I needed one and I found that people tend to respond more on IG and boom, there you go. Its still very weird to me!

What is your book about ? And what can readers expect from it ??

Well, The Awakened is about a girl named Zoey, who is living in New York City, just getting through her senior year. She has a super overprotective dad and her next door neighbor is both incredibly annoying and also incredibly hot. Normal stuff. But her world sort of turns upside down when a virus wipes out a third of the population and that population returns as these flesh eating monsters that can communicate, and are smart and fast. Its very much a survival story. You can expect a lot of running, a lot of action, a fair amount of blood, definitely some romance and a ton of sarcasm as well.

What is your source of inspiration when you write ??

It sort of depends. Sometimes I write because I think, you NEED to get this done. Doesn’t sound very inspiring does it? But often times, I think of my characters and how I want to get them where they need to go. I put music on, I light a delicious smelling candle, I read a book that inspires me, and it gets my butt into gear and I write. Plus, I also think that I would be so committed to it because I knew there was nothing more that I wanted than to publish a book and in order to make that happen, you have to write one and you have to work hard…so I did.

Do you have any unique routine you do before you start writing ??

Not really. I do like to eat before I write because I can’t concentrate on anything, much less writing, when I’m hungry. I just can’t do it. But I tend to find some background noise, whether its my playlist or something on Netflix. I like having a bottle of water for me. That’s really about it. Sometimes I write on my laptop at home, sometimes its in a notebook somewhere else. I’m very relaxed about how I write.

I saw from your account that you have been declined by many publishing houses so how do you keep yourself motivated after being rejected ??

Its hard. I’m not going to lie. Its extremely hard. There were times when I just wanted to say, enough is enough and just stop. Its hard getting those emails again and again and again. But I think I had a lot of people believing in me. I believed in myself. I knew that it wasn’t easy and I had heard from so many authors that I’ve met and become friends with that its not easy. And I wanted it so badly. You don’t tend to give up on something you want that badly.

What do you usually do if you get a writer block ??

I don’t really believe in the idea of writers block. I tend to think writers block is more…you’d rather do other things. Or you’re afraid that what you’re going to write isn’t going to be good. That’s the big one. I think we expect to sit in front of the computer and just, wham, have beautiful words come out, but that isn’t what happens. We have to sit in front of the computer and tell ourselves, its okay to write total crap. Everyone does it. Because at least there are words on the paper that we can go back and fix and rewrite. Its one of the biggest things I struggle with but I sometimes just sit there and tell myself, even if its only 100 words today, at least you wrote something.

When did you start your bookstagram account and what's the reason behind you starting one ??

Like I said before, it was just sort of natural. I had started my blog and I figured I should attach all the necessary social media accounts like Twitter and Instagram. I use Instagram a lot because people really respond and connect there. Besides my actual blog, its definitely what I use the most. I just like being able to show my love for books and all things nerdy and I like connecting with people all over the world. Its incredibly fun.

I saw that you have a few parabatais, who are also a bookstagrammer. How did you guys meet and become close friends ??

I am so lucky. I have some of the best friends in the world, and so many of us are bookstagrammers and bloggers and BookTubers and we all just share this love of reading. I met most of these people through the internet, through my blog or at different events that I’ve gone to, and you know, just connected with these people right away. Its really awesome that the book community can do that.

And lastly, do you have any advice for writers who just started and dreamed of being a big writer someday ??

It sounds cheesy and repetitive probably but I honestly mean it: don’t give up. Just don’t do it. Keep writing, even if you’re writing badly because you only get better the more you do it. Keep reading, be influenced by all the amazing authors that are out there. And just don’t give up. If you want it, go for it. Don’t let anyone tell you can’t do it. I’ve had a lot of people in my life doubt me or just flat out not support me, and it hurts, but you have to tell yourself that you can do it. And you will. And never be afraid to ask for help or to feel like you’re failing. Its going to feel that way all the time. But just get back up and keep writing. Never ever ever give up. In the words of one of my favorite authors, Cora Carmack “No easy days.” Not one day is going to be easy but in the end, its so worth it.

Release Day : Astaroth

Abigale Colebrook married a man she thought would sweep her off her feet and into
the lap of luxury. Only, the man he portrayed was very different from the man he
really was. Dark secrets lay within the Colebrook Estate and she finds herself being
used as nothing more than a pawn in Lairds' sick games.

That is, until a handsome stranger rings their doorbell.

He was sent by Pesta to meet Laird Colebrook and locate the legendary statue of
Asher and Faye, but no relic could compare to the blonde beauty that swept into his
heart.

The moment he laid eyes on Abigale Colebrook, he knew he had to have her. And the
moment he kissed her, he knew no one would get in his way. It didn’t matter that
her husband was the very man he came to do business with, the very man who
controlled her every move.

He was Astaroth, one of the seven princes of the underworld, commander of forty
legions, and the leader of the seven armies--no one could take from him what he
desired.

She broke their kiss and tried to pull back to look into his amazing eyes, but he
pulled her head into his chest and kissed her hair. He held her so tightly, she could
barely breathe.

“Do you still trust me?” he whispered, his lips never leaving her head, his hold not
allowing her to move. He felt the slightest nod of her head and his arms fell to his
side, freeing her from his grasp.

Abby’s body shot straight up, a look of anger on her face. She obviously hadn’t liked
not being able to move, but it had been his only option. Slowly, he saw the change in
her features as her brain began to register she was no longer safely in her bed. Her
eyes darted around Roth’s bedroom, from the ancient wall sconces burning on the
stone walls to the heavy drapes hanging on his ten foot windows.

“Where…how…where?” she asked, her eyes moving back to his.

He rested his hands on her hips, feeling her entire body tremble. What had he done?

“We’re in my bedroom.”

She scurried away from him and off the bed. Standing on shaky legs, she stumbled
away from Roth, her brain trying to process what had just happened. One minute,
she was in her room, and the next, she wasn’t sure.

A knock at the door distracted her from her obvious hallucination.

“Go away!” Roth’s deep and powerful voice yelled a moment too late. Sheer panic
overtook her as a large boar-like creature stepped into the room. Her scream of
terror probably resonated throughout all of the Underworld as her shaky legs
collapsed beneath her. Roth’s movement from the bed couldn’t have been seen with
the human eye, and his muscular arms caught her before she could even hit the
ground.

“I said go away and don’t disturb me again or I’ll have your head on a spike!” He
cradled her delicate body in his arms and carried her to a black leather chaise near
the window. Kneeling beside her, he lovingly brushed her blonde hair away from
her face and softly kissed her temple. “N’anya, Abby, wake up.”

After a few moments, her eyes fluttered, and for a moment, a sweet smile came
across her face. Then, the look he dreaded—fear and hatred shadowed her beautiful
blue eyes. “What are you?”

He kept his voice just above a whisper as he spoke. “I’m Astaroth, one of the seven
princes of the Underworld, commander of forty legions, and the man who’s in love
with you.”

About The Author

She currently lives in Western Massachusetts and has a love for adventure that
makes her who she truly is. As an avid mountain climber & hiker it is not unusual for
her to be hanging off of a 5.9 in the Adirondacks or the Shawangunk Mountain
ranges. During the off-season of climbing, also known as winter, she attends the
New England Center for Circus Arts where she studied static trapeze (think Cirque
rather than Circus).

She’s an only child so has her mother to thank for her over active imagination and
knack for storytelling. Over the years she's written several short stories of the
"naughty" nature. But had never envisioned herself as a writer. Just someone who
enjoyed telling a steamy story from time to time.

EXCERPT

The weight of a thousand elephants pushes against my shoulders.  I can’t handle it
anymore.  I’m dying inside.  I can’t move.  I can’t breathe.  A low wail escapes my
searing throat.  Nothing can hold it back.  Slowly sliding down the wall, I tuck myself
into a ball, and weep like a baby.

Moments later, I wince at Jenna’s unexpected voice, “Come on! You’ve got to get up
now.”

“I can’t go!  Not now!”  I gasp, wiping the residual tears from my eyes.

She continues to tug at me.  “You are not going to sit here and feel sorry for yourself.

You and I both know that you’re not the one to blame for this.  Get your ass up!”
I slowly start to inch my way up and off the wall.  I’m so shaky, I teeter back and
forth like a toddler learning to balance for the first time.

Looking down at the motionless body is horrifying.  Tears well up and beat at the
back of my eyes.  She is barely recognizable.  Her face is pale and bloated.  My
God. This is worse than I imagined.  I want to erase the horrifying image I see lying
before me.

I shake my head and pull my hand up to wipe the tears that are starting to slip from
my eyes.  Get it together. You don’t have much time.
