Release Day : Epic Love

HEATH STRICKLAND, the son of a prominent district attorney, lived his life
surrounded by violence and crime. He was an unwilling witness to the corrupt lives
his father swore to prosecute and keep behind bars. His escape was his music, which
eventually led him to replace the iconic singer of the world famous band, Epic Fail.

NOELLE DURAND lived in luxury, growing up on a sprawling estate, with everything
she could ever want or need. Her life, to everyone else, seemed perfect. Perfect
house. Perfect things. Perfect family. But nothing at all was perfect. She lived in hell.

A hell that nobody on the outside could see.

As a neighbor and childhood friend, Heath would have done anything for Noelle. He
would have given up the world to protect her and keep her safe. Their friendship
grew into something that neither of them expected. But then she suddenly
disappeared, vanishing from his life as if she never existed. He never stopped hoping
that one day she would resurface, alive and well. But as time went by, and her family
gave up hope, he surrendered his heart to his lost love.

Twelve years later, one phone call changes everything.

EPIC LOVE is the third book in the EPIC FAIL series and can be read as a STANDALONE novel.
This series is a spinoff from the FOREVER FAMILY series.

EXCERPT & TEASERS

“I’m sorry, Noelle. I’m really sorry.” I don’t know what I’m apologizing for. The fact that I don’t believe her weak lie or because I kissed her. No. I’m not sorry for either.

“It’s okay. Really. Thanks for caring. And thank you for my birthday gift.” She pauses and brushes her pinkie finger against mine. “You made my birthday really special, and I’ll never forget it.”

Without thinking, I loop my pinkie finger around hers, linking them together. Linking us together. We walk to her window like this and I break our connection reluctantly, bringing my hand up to her bruised cheek. “Please be careful,” I beg, and I’m not sure what I’m even begging her to be careful of. I’m just so worried about her.

“I will,” she whispers. “Catch a couple fireflies on the way home.”

“I’d catch a million for you.” Her eyes light up, a smile on her lips. I want to kiss her again. So bad. But all I do is stare into her eyes and back away. I push the window open as quietly as I can and slide out onto the grass.

“Happy Birthday, Noelle.”

She smiles as we both slide the window gently along the track, closing it.

She leaves her hand pressed against the window and I immediately do the same, covering hers, only the glass pane separating us.

Her smile is weak and full of pain.

A pain that I would take away from her in an instant if I could.

Cover Reveal : Sifted

Sifted is book #2 in the A Recipe for Love series, and is the conclusion of Emily and Declan's story. It is told from Declan's point of view

I asked her to have hope, faith, and trust in us, and then I did the unthinkable: I left.

Now, it's time for me to return and to sift through the pieces that I left behind. I guess my nickname of the Irish Car Bomb is fitting because I went off and left bits of shrapnel behind. I just hope it's not too late to clean up the mess I made.

We only regret the chances we don't take, and honestly, my leaving had nothing to do with Emily—my lovely Lemon Drop.

When I left, I thought I no longer knew who I was. What I know now is that I'm nothing without her by my side. She is the biggest piece of me.

She loved me when I was unlovable. No, she never said the words out loud, either, but her love for me is something I've never doubted. I felt it, I know I did. I promised to be worthy of that love when I returned to her. I'm still not sure that I am, but I need it, and if she'll have me, I'll have her until death do us part.

I meant every word when I told her that my heart would always bring me back to her. She is my home. She is my everything. My yesterday, my today, and my tomorrow.

About The Author

I never thought that I would write a novel, although my English teacher my freshman year in college told me that he would hunt me down if I wasn’t published by the time I was thirty. Thirty came and went. I was busy being a wife and working mother of two and nobody came looking for me.

I doubt my sister thought she was about to change my life forever when she got me a book of “Mommy porn” for my birthday in 2012, but that’s exactly what she did. After reading the first book in the trilogy,

I rushed out and got the other two books. I became obsessed and read the series several times before
learning about Fanficiton. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t get enough. The idea
fascinated me and I thought, “I can do that.” I was a nervous wreck when I posted my first story, a one shot about my new favorite couple. One story lead to another and then another. My readers
encouraged me to write something original, so that‘s what I did. Thank you to everyone who
encouraged me. I couldn’t have done it without you.

I love reading, writing, traveling, and spending time with my family.
Thank you for going on this journey with me.

EXCERPT & TEASERS

"Can I ask you something?" she said, drawing my attention away from the monotony on my computer screen. I looked up to find her eyes dead set on mine. It was unnerving.

She usually tried to avoid direct eye contact with me. Maybe I intimidated her. Perhaps she found me attractive and the idea of lusting after her boss bothered her.

Believe me, it bothered me too.

In a very physical way.

“Go ahead,” I answered, unwilling to break the intimate connection she'd started.

"When you saw me… at the club that night," she said, her eyes wavering just slightly."What was it you saw in me? I mean, was it just the clothes?"

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Even though I'd said we'd never speak of what happened that drunken night two weeks ago, I saw something in her eyes that needed an answer.

That needed something more.

"Why are you asking?"

"It's nothing, sorry. I'm being stupid," she backpedaled, as she began fiddling with the hem of her skirt.

Looking back at our few interactions, I suddenly noticed the difference in how she'd acted today. Her normal never-ending stream of word vomit was there, but behind it, there was an internal struggle going on. The hemline wasn't the first thing she'd fidgeted with. I'd watched as she'd pulled at the collar of her shirt and then, as if she'd realized what she had done was wrong, quickly lay it flat again.

"Does this have something to do with the way you're dressed today?"

Pink tinged her cheeks once again.

"You noticed?"

I simply nodded, not trusting myself with words in that moment.

Because I’d more than noticed. It’d been damn hard not to think about anything but.

"A gift from my boyfriend," she replied.  "He said my old clothes didn't fit in with our new lifestyle. It was a very generous gift," she added, never forgetting that politeness she'd no doubt been taught since birth.

"But?" I questioned, waiting for her to continue.

"But… I don't feel like me anymore," she finally admitted.

"And I'm guessing the night in the club was another gift of his as well?"

It was her turn to nod.

I could see the indecision and worry gnawing at her. Someone like her, sweet, honest and good… she was meant for better things than a life with a man who didn't appreciate her.

Leaning forward, I made sure she saw the sincerity burning in my eyes as I spoke. "That night in the club, I'll admit, I noticed the dress first."

She opened her lips to speak but I held up my hand to stop her, wanting to make my point.

"And today, when you walked in, I couldn't help but give a second… or third glance at the way that new skirt hugged your ass."

Her eyes widened at my blatant honesty.

"So yes, the clothes may grab my attention for a moment or two, but the fact that I'm still interested, two weeks later? That's you, Cara. That’s all you.”

And just like that, I'd crossed the line.

I’d hit on an employee.

And there was no going back from that.

        EXCERPT & TEASER

The next day after work, I walked into Jones Jym in complete awe of the place. It was an athlete’s dream workout facility—even better than the one I frequented during college ball. It had multiple floors of equipment and machines, and several trainers on staff. The place buzzed with people who were eager to sweat away their workday. Since moving to the city, I’d yet to find a gym to join, and a guy at work named Owen had given me the name of the gym he and several of his athletic clients used.

I signed up and paid the membership fee. The lady at the front desk gave me a keycard and all the
necessary information that came with becoming a member, and then she had a young guy give me a
tour of the place. It wasn’t until we got to the floor with the pool that I recognized the body swimming toward the other end.

Paige was doing laps in a one-piece black swimsuit. Seeing her in the water reminded me of the times
we spent swimming and the bikinis she used to wear, especially the ones I enjoyed taking off of her.

“Dude,” the kid said, shaking his head. “Don’t even bother. That lady is like the ice queen around here. She specifically requests the pool to herself, and the only reason she gets it is because she’s friends with the boss.”

“I see,” I commented, never taking my eyes off her. Ice queen, huh? That was a new nickname for her I hadn’t heard around work yet. “If you don’t mind, I think I can take it from here. I appreciate you
        showing me around.”

“Just doing my job.” He shrugged and picked up a few towels that had been tossed to the side before
heading toward the door. “Have a good day.”

        “You too.”

I was alone with her. It was like one of my teenage wet dreams come to life all over again: Paige all wet in a swimsuit. Except this time, she was in a one-piece that covered way too much of her, but I really didn’t mind. The suit molded to her, showing off her excellently toned body and how much she still cared for it.

As she swam toward the end of the pool nearest me, I walked to the edge and squatted down to watch
her. She pushed harder and harder through the water, kicking her legs and pumping her arms fast
toward me. When she got closer, instead of somersaulting against the wall and pushing back to the
other end, she reached for the edge and accidentally grabbed my shoe.

“What the hell?” she sputtered as she removed her goggles and moved into a standing position. She
brushed her hair out of her face and peered back at me with a pissed off gleam in her eye. “What are you doing in here, Drake? I requested time in the pool to myself.”

“I know,” I said, smiling. “But I was getting the Jones Jym tour since I’m a new member and when I saw you swimming, I thought I’d say hi.”

She rolled her eyes and ticked a brow up at me. “You joined my gym?”

“I didn’t realize it was your gym. I thought it was open to everybody.”

She sighed. “You know what I mean. How did you know I worked out here?”

“Well, if you must know, I asked Owen his opinion on the gyms around the city, and he suggested this one. Your name was never even brought up.”

“Goddammit, Owen,” she muttered under her breath loud enough for me to hear.

Amused, I stepped back as she lifted herself out of the pool. I admired the body that I missed in an
unhealthy manner, feeling suffocated in my three-piece suit as my eyes roamed. She grabbed a towel
and started to dry off, and all I could do was stand there and watch. Her suit dipped low in the front, exposing the contours of her breasts, and it was cut high on the thighs to show off her legs and the
cheeks of her taut ass peeking out the backside. It wasn’t like the one-piece suits with the ugly floral
prints. No, this black beauty was one I imagined myself stripping off of her in a slow, seductive manner until I had her begging me to get her out of it.

“Don’t,” she stated harshly, knocking me back to the present.

“What?” I asked, confused as I refocused my attention to her face, where her eyes were narrowed on me, brows furrowed in annoyance.

She used to love it when I watched her like this.

She wrapped one towel around herself and knotted it, and then proceeded to wring her hair out with
another towel. “You don’t get to look at me like that anymore.”

I cocked my head to the side and shot her a mischievous smile. “Do you realize what you’re wearing?
How am I supposed to not look at you in a swimsuit? Do you remember all the good times we had with you in—and out—of a bikini? Because I do.”

“I can tell.” She nodded toward the slight bulge in my pants and tossed the towel in the used barrel.
Slipping her feet into a pair of sandals, she threw her bag over her shoulder and made her way over to
me. She tugged on my loosened tie and pulled me forward with a playful smile lingering on her lips as she ran her fingers over the silky material. “I remember that one night we decided to go skinny dipping,” she stated, her voice taking on a sensual tone that hypnotized me. “You helped me out of my suit, taking your sweet time untying the strings and sliding my bottoms down my legs, and then you took off your shorts.” She laughed softly and then shoved me away from her. “But the water was so cold that your genitals shriveled up to unnoticeable proportions.”

“Hey, it was really fucking cold!” I exclaimed defensively.

Reaching for the door, her laugh turned devious. “Don’t ever interrupt my swim session again, Wilkins.”

“Don’t act like that’s the only swimming memory you have, Abram!” I called back.

Like hell I was going to let her have the last word. One glance at my groin, and I knew the skinny dipping story still had the same damn effect that it had back when we were kids.

Fuck. Getting her back was going to be more of a challenge than I thought, but I’d endure every
embarrassing story she recalled about me if it meant hearing her laugh like that again.

        EXCERPT & TEASER

Lisa inched closer, swathed in an oversized fleece hoodie. Her eyes had regained their sparkle, though they held the question hanging between them, one he had yet to answer for himself: why the hell am I here right now?

Somehow, “you’re hot and I’m horny” didn’t cut it. It might have been his canned internal response, but not for her. Contrary to popular belief, he wasn’t a sex addict. Women were a means to an end… that end temporarily releasing him from the emotional burdens he carried day after day. Sex helped mask the wounds, but it never really healed him. How ironic he’d been sliced open protecting the one who made him want to feel something again. Talk about poetic justice.

“I wanted to make sure you were okay.” Pain shot up his forearm and his head throbbed. Christ, he needed those drugs to kick in fast. Everything hurt, but dammit,he wasn’t about to whine like some pansy ass.

“I’m fine. Much better than you, from the looks of it.”

“Yeah, well, I guess you could say I’ve done my civic duty.”

She smiled, exposing a row of perfectly straight, bright white teeth. They practically glowed. Or maybe that was the oxycontin finally taking effect. “I feel so privileged.”

A wave of nausea crashed over him. No, no, no… fuck, no. He squeezed his eyes shut until the feeling dissipated. An icy coldness snaked through his extremities, right down to his fingers. No longer were they itching to run through the waves cascading over her shoulders. Flexing them was futile. What the hell? The overhead light danced atop her golden hair. He squinted. It almost looked like a halo. And were those doves floating around her head? Somewhere in his increasingly foggy mind, he registered some kind of faint whistling. Was it the doves? Or was he just fucking insane? Numbness slowly crept over the stitched area and his mind grew cloudier. Christ, how much did Evan give him? No way was this a normal dose.

A warm hand grazed his arm. “Do you want me to call the doctor? You look a little, um, off.” Her brow furrowed. “How about some water?”

Four eyes stared back. Did she have a twin? Where had she come from? Mmm, that kind of threesome was right up his alley. “You two are so beautiful, you know that?”

“Who two?” She gnawed at her fingernail. “Maybe I should get someone. I don’t think—”

“No, don’t leave. Please. I feel great. I just want to keep looking at you guys, okay?” Voices echoed around him. How many more sisters did she have? And how did they all get into his room? So much for hospital security.

“Um, sure. You know we’re alone, right? Just you and me?”

“Yes, and your sisters. Stop biting your nails and hold my hand. The one that’s not sliced up.”

        “Are you always this demanding?”

“I took a knife for you. So yeah, I think I earned the right.” He let out a deep sigh as their fingers entwined. Soft and warm. His eyelids were so heavy; forcing them to stay open was a near-impossible feat. “You like tattoos, huh?”

“Tattoos?” She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, a smirk lifting her lips. “I’m not so sure we’re still on the same wavelength. What kind of painkillers did they give you?”

“I don’t know, but I can’t feel my legs anymore.”

“I’m kind of surprised your mouth still works.”

“Happy to say it’s not the only thing.”

“And here I was, thinking you weren’t as big a womanizer as the tabloids claim.”

        “They don’t know me.”

        “Does anybody?”

“No.” He could barely even hear his own voice. It sounded so far away, like he was speaking from deep within a cave. A snicker escaped his mouth. Where did all thecotton come from? “I feel drunk and massively hung over right now.”

She leaned closer, the scent of her perfume wafting into the air. Recalling his own name was a struggle, but even with his weakened senses, he was acutely aware of her nearness. The sensation of slender fingers smoothing back his hair lulled him to sleep. Her touch was so gentle, like a soft breeze fluttering over his skin. His mind begged him to stay focused but the eyelids drooped in utter betrayal. Even her hands smelled amazing, like flowers and… jelly beans. Warm lips grazed his forehead. He squeezed her hand with the last of his rapidly depleting energy store, struggling to open his eyes one final time. A sea of smiling faces gazed back.
“Promise you’ll visit tomorrow, okay? Bring all your sisters, too.”
