EXCERPT & TEASER

I should have suspected something. Instead, when the doorbell rang, I opened the
door without the slightest idea of what was waiting for me.

Beverly showed up on my doorstep along with the man I had tried to keep away all
week.

“Shit,” I said. “What now?”

Brandon smiled, but looked sheepish, which made me worry. He was holding a
bouquet of roses, and handed it to me without saying a word. I took it and thanked
him, and when I locked eyes with his, I felt a million different feelings unleash inside
of me.

He was giving me that hooded, cautious look. His eyes looked a deeper blue than
usual. My eyes fell on his mouth and I realized how much I had missed his touch.
I wanted to jump into his arms, but there was still doubt in my heart and it was
weighing the happy-go-lucky part of me down.

“Okay, so…as you might have guessed by now, you and I aren’t going anywhere,”
Beverly spoke. “But you and Brandon are going on a little adventure–”

“What?” I turned to her snapping out of my Brandon-induced daydream.

“Yes! And you have to leave, like…right now. So, chop-chop!”

I looked at Brandon quizzically. “What do you have to say? Cat got your tongue?” I
joked.

“I want you to come with me. I don’t want to have to persuade you. I’m also afraid
I’m going to spill the beans and ruin the whole thing,” he said.

“You seem pretty good at keeping things to yourself,” I sneered.

“Alright! Easy, woman! Come on, time to go!” She came behind me and started
pushing me towards Brandon’s car.

“Okay, okay!” I took my purse, locked the house and unwillingly walked to the car,
all with the flowers in my arms. “Crap! I forgot about the flowers. I turned to
Beverly. “You have the keys to my house, right? Would you mind putting them in a
vase?”

“I’ll do it,” she replied.

“Thanks.”

“But first, there’s something else I have to do.” She exchanged a look with Brandon
and I stared confused at the two of them.

She got a strip of black fabric out of her purse. What the hell was that?

“Turn around,” she commanded.

“What?”

“Turn around. I have to put this blindfold on you.”

“Seriously?” I gasped. How could these two people be those I used to think I
trusted? “Am I not coming willingly?” I asked Brandon.

“This is her idea,” he replied, tilting his head in Beverly’s direction.

Of course. I should have known. Miss lover of kinky steamy romance novels.

“Well, it’s not necessary,” I argued.

“It totally is,” Beverly rebuffed. “It’s going to ruin the whole surprise. Wear the
motherfucking blindfold or so help me God, Lucy.”

“Okay, okay.” Jeez. Who knew she could be such a Bossypants? “You’re making me
reconsider our friendship, you know,” I told her.

“Lies,” she said, tying the knot behind my head. “All done!” she exclaimed and then
pinched my butt.

“Ouch!”

“Awww, stop it, you sissy. Give me these.” She took the flowers from my arms.
Brandon took my hand and just the feeling of his warm fingers around mine, made
my heart jump a little. I exhaled.

“I promise you, this is going to be good,” he whispered in my ear. God, his voice
sounded even sexier than I remembered.

He helped me in the car and put the seatbelt around me. His lips brushed against
mine just for a second, and I gasped.

“I have to admit, I do like this blindfold,” he teased.

“Of course you do.”

“I almost forgot,” Beverly said. She took my hand and placed some lightweight object
in my hand. It was shaped like a square and it was made of paper.

“What is it?”

“A CD mix. A little ‘sorry for blindfolding you, friend, have a great time on your
mystery road trip’ playlist.”

“Road trip?” I asked.

“Oops, I said too much. Anyway, I’m sure you’re going to hate me a little less after
you listen to it.”

“If you say so.”

“Have a fabulous night and don’t forget to tell your best friend she’s the best when
you end up having a great time.”

“We’ll see about that,” I joked and smiled, but I wondered if she knew I was joking. I
couldn’t see her and wasn’t sure if she was smiling.

“Bye, Lucy. I wuv you!”

“Wuv you too!”

She closed the door, and a moment later I heard Brandon’s door open and he sat in
the passenger seat. He closed his door and started the car.

“Where are we going?” I asked him.

“You’ll see.”

“Well, at the moment, I can’t see anything.” He laughed. It was a warm, rich sound
that eased up the nervousness and made me smile.

“I missed your smile,” he said. “I can’t believe you had the strength to stay away
from me a whole week.”

“Eight days,” I corrected him.

“Were you going to keep giving me the cold shoulder if I hadn’t showed up at your
door?”

“I don’t know.” I heard him exhale a deep breath and wondered if that hurt his
feelings. It was easier to be indifferent to him when he wasn’t around. Now, in the
small space of the car, my head swam in his scent, his words made my heartbeat
speed up, and a warm and fuzzy feeling spread into my chest. The knots in my
stomach dissolved and the words almost come rushing out of my mouth.

“I missed you too.”

“Good,” he said.

EXCERPT & TEASER

Watching movers pack away his things and throw them into the truck is so
impersonal. Tossing the boxes into a truck with no thought as to what they are
handling. I wish I had the strength to be the one who packed it all away, but I
couldn’t. It was hard enough to pack up my things. I moved my stuff out of the home
two weeks ago, but the majority of everything in that home was his.

He was my other half. My soul mate. One morning, we were completely in love and
talking about starting a family, and then by nightfall, I had found my boyfriend
barely alive in the storage room of the bar I owned. I rode with him as he was
rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, praying he would pull through even though
the look on the paramedics’ faces told me otherwise. After what seemed like forever
in the waiting room, doctors gave me the news he didn’t make it. The police
questioned me extensively, and later that night, I came home to his empty house.

From that day on, I have been on autopilot.

EXCERPT & TEASER

“What did you say? A stroke?” I ask with concern and confusion.

“Not literally. If you haven’t noticed it’s hot and sticky here, makes you feel like
you’re a stick of butter melting. I can promise that you don’t want to be out here in
the heat of the day, but if you don’t get to moving, you will be.”

“I’m not doing any of it Gran. This is not what I signed up to do.”

“Sugar, the moment you disrespected me was the moment I knew it was time to
teach you a lesson or two about life. So pick up those boots and march your ass right
in there.” Holy shit! Gran cursed!

“What? Shit ain’t a bad word. Look out there. There’s plenty of it,” she says pointing
to the pasture. As I turn back to Gran I notice my cellphone lodged in a pile of crap.

“Gran, my phone! It landed in a pile of crap.”

“Well, brush it off.”

“Oh, no, I’m not touching that and now I need a new phone. How am I going to talk to
Lauren and my other friends without a phone?”

“I have one in the house. Now quit your whining and get started on those stalls.”

Reluctantly, I follow Gran into the barn. Hearing a crazy sound, I have no idea what
I’m about to do, but I pray it doesn’t have anything to do with a cow’s tatas.

Chloe

I’m sitting in my theater class right now, which is one giant joke. I get it. Ashtyn’s mom registered me for classes and she knows the old me. The old me would have been buzzing with energy as soon as I stepped foot in this amazing theater that’s way too good to belong to a high school. The teacher drones on and on about auditions, volunteer opportunities, internships, blah, blah, blah. The acoustics make it sound like he’s standing right next to me rather than one hundred feet away on the stage. Basically perfect.

A packet is passed onto my desk: “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” I pick it up and run my fingers along the title and wait for the adrenaline rush and butterflies to flutter through me. My favorite Shakespeare play is within my reach. I could stand up on that stage and pretend to be Helena. Steal the show and have everyone fall in love with me. But as I look at that stage, all I feel is the darkness closing in. I feel like I’m standing in front of an audience as they judge me and not a single supporter among them. There’s a hole where Mom should be, and rather than let the panic start up, I toss the script to the side.

It’s one of my favorite Shakespeare plays. I always preferred the comedies to the tragedies, and when you throw in a little love, you have something there. With the proximity to the Shakespeare Festival, I get the idea that the theater program is pretty competitive here. I wish I cared enough to see how good I am.

“Mr. Hemmer, are you requiring everyone to audition for the play again this year?” I try to ignore the annoying sound coming from Brooke’s mouth, but my ears perk up nonetheless.

He clears his throat and rolls his eyes. No one else is looking at him, so I’m the only one who caught it, but at least I know I’m not the only one that can’t stand her. She’s so fake it’s disgusting. “No, Brooke, that turned out to be a disaster last time. No one will be required to audition, but everyone here will be required to help out in some way, whether that is working on the sets or any of the other backstage jobs. I do hope you all consider auditioning for a part though.”

She can’t even hide the ridiculous smile that is plastered all over her face. In the most saccharine voice, she says, “That’s good. I’m sure there are some people in here that just aren’t meant for being on stage.” I turn to look at her, and she’s staring straight at me. I hold her gaze and refuse to back down from her. I match my sickeningly sweet smile to hers, although mine’s a little more serial killer than cheerleader. It works though. Her mouth opens in horror and she turns back around.

Hudson

Down in the kitchen, I find Jax, luckily alone. He never cared about flaunting his latest conquests around, but since Chloe has been staying here, I haven’t seen a single one. I’m extremely grateful, and I wonder if he even knows he’s doing it. “Hey man, what are you doing up so early?”

Looking up from his overflowing bowl of Cap’n Crunch, he says, “Chloe isn’t exactly a quiet crier. But I’m used to it at this point. I don’t have anywhere to be, so I can just sleep all day.”

“Sorry about that. I think it’s just hitting her a little harder today. Stuff like your first day of senior year is important to girls like Chloe. It’s the first major life moment that her parents are missing.”

“I get it, dude. I haven’t said anything because she’s going through shit right now. I’m not a major
asshole, or at least I try not to always be.”

Oddly enough, I think that’s the first normal conversation we’ve had in a long time. The Hartley brothers don’t have heart-to-hearts, as funny as that sounds. Honestly, if it weren’t for the band, I don’t think we’d be as close as we are. That’s about all we have in common. The silence drags on, and although it isn’t uncomfortable for me, Jax can never have it be silent for too long. He always has to fill the silence in some way.

One night when I was watching TV, Jax came in, and just like any older brother he took the remote and changed the channel. I thought about arguing, but I was too exhausted and went with it. Five minutes after he found something, I could hear mumbling. I looked over and his mouth was moving. “What the fuck are you doing?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, dude. I’m not doing anything. What are you doing?”

“Yes you are. Wait…are you saying all of the lines?”

“No. Why would I do that? That’s weird.”

After another five minutes, he started up again. He was oblivious to the fact he was doing it, or he
couldn’t hold out any longer. Either way, it was some pretty funny shit.

“Do you think the Flash can turn his dick into a human vibrator during sex?”

And there it is. What the fuck? I stare at him incredulously. “Where do you come up with this shit?”

He holds up his juice glass, and I notice it’s adorned with the members of the Justice League. “C’mon, just think about it.”

I shake my head. “I don’t know. I guess that makes sense.”

“Dude, that would be awesome.”

I can’t believe we’re even having this conversation right now. “Just don’t tell the ladies your theory.”

“Why not?”

“Because then they’d be disappointed in your lack of vibrating abilities.”

“Trust me, brother, no chick has ever left my bed disappointed.”

“Dude, I don’t want to know how any girl feels leaving your bed. That’s between you and whoever your latest hookup is.” He opens his mouth to say something, but Chloe walks in the room and he shuts it right back up. I don’t know what was going on between Chloe and Jax over the summer, but it stopped after that night. The two of them don’t even talk to each other anymore. Or more like Jax doesn’t talk to Chloe. I think he feels responsible for the accident, but I’ve told him time and again it wasn’t his fault.

PROLOGUE

SADIE

Two years ago

I can’t breathe.

Her arms desperately thrashed as Melbourne’s vicious underbelly boss held her face
into the river. Sadie Harris felt it. The hand in her hair. The fingernails in her arm.
Pushing her. Drowning her. Forcing her to inhale water. Every time she saw the
black start to encroach her vision, he’d wrap her hair around his hand and yank her
to the surface.

On instinct she gasped for it.

The air seemed heavy.

The air felt synthetic as it surged into her lungs.

Her chokes, she felt against her throat.

Her coughs added to the burn.

Then it hit her.

The water rose up, leaving an agonising cut along the way as she threw it up.
The tears, Sadie couldn’t help. The water torture Vincent Salvatore had unleashed
on her was exactly that. Torture. Over and over again. More and more. He’d had her
wishing for death.

Death would be so easy.

She screamed words telling him to do it. To kill her. Make it all go away. Stop the
brutality. Words that seemed like the words to say. He’d already ran the knife
throughout the length of her body. Knicks and stabs he had made.

Then Salvatore bent down.

And Sadie felt the delicious sensation of the cold barrel of his gun run along the side
of her face.

Death was easy when it was in the hands of a mad man.

EXCERPT

After several swallows, he closes his eyes and lowers the bottle. “Easy there, sport.” My voice has a
menacing tone to it. “We both said we were going to cool it on the drinking.”

“You just nicked my entire glass of red!” he retorts.

“You look like this isn’t your first bottle, Hayden.”

He sighs heavily and glares at me. His damaged, hard gray eyes searching my face for further argument.
Mindlessly, he glances down to my chest and the lids of his eyes droop as heat flourishes beneath them.

I instantly know he’s no longer angry about the wine.

He begins to stalk slowly toward me—his tall, wiry build gliding silently across the white tile floor. I back up until I hit the half wall beside the fridge. “We said we weren’t going to do this anymore, Hayden.” I hold my hand out, pressing it to his firm stomach to stop him from coming any closer. I want to walk
away, but a larger part of me wants to stop thinking about Liam. And there’s only one way to do that.

Hayden sighs and grabs a piece of my hair. He brings it to his lips. “You look sexy as fuck, Rey. I like your hair like this.” He rubs the silky, dark strand against his lips. A playful smirk dances in his eyes.

“Nice key change, Hay. But you should take those fuck me eyes elsewhere.”

He hunches over and nuzzles his mouth into my neck, licking and kissing a trail up to my ear. “Now why would I want to do that?” he whispers, his voice husky.

I can feel him grinning against my skin as goose pimples flare out on my neck beneath his warm breath. I ball up a chunk of his T-shirt into my fist for some semblance of control. His hands move to grip tightly around my waist and I could scream at my body as it arches into his embrace.

This is exactly what Hayden does to me. He makes me lose all sense of thought and purpose. It’s part of the draw. He’s a freaking mess like me and I ache for the pleasure I know he can grant me.

“We say a lot of words,” he mumbles against my neck and nips playfully. “Let’s do less saying…and more fucking.”

EXCERPT & TEASERS

I looked up and all of the composure I’d worked so hard to regain melted away. A
few yards behind me, staring at me in the reflective glass, was a man who made my
heart stop. My breath hitched and I was paralyzed as my mind raced for the
appropriate response to Gregory Michaels’ unexpected appearance. Whatever
mutiny my body staged against my mind wasn’t the response I was hoping for. By
some miracle, the door opened in front of me, breaking the spell.

An average-looking man in a nondescript business suit held the door, waiting
politely for me to pass through. In a daze, I shuffled in and spun around to find Mr.
Michaels standing in the same spot, still looking at me. I knew he couldn’t see me
through the dark glass, but that didn’t lessen the impact of his gaze. He walked
toward the door, his expression intent, purposeful. I struggled to take a step back, as
if some invisible force pulled me toward him. I’d never felt anything like it before, so
I did the only reasonable thing I could think of.

I ran.

The ladies restroom was just a few yards away so I ducked inside.

What. The. Fuck? I leaned against the door of the woman’s bathroom. That wasn’t
me out there. Men didn’t have that effect on me; I had it on them. I was always in
control. Every step I’d taken regarding men for as long as I could remember was
part of a well laid out plan. Until that moment.

I pulled the door just enough to peer through the crack. My pulse thudded in my
ears. Looking at him, completely uninhibited by the risk of discovery, it was
impossible to deny my attraction to him. The flush of my skin and the fluttering in
my stomach gave it away all too well.

Gregory Michaels scanned the lobby, looking for something, or someone. Knowing in
my bones what he was looking for was me pleased me far more than it should have.

Ignoring the temptation to exit and let him find me, I kept watching. He approached
the desk manned by two security officers.

“Oh! Excuse me!” the woman entering the bathroom nearly shouted.

I jumped back, my hand over my chest. The surprise flooded me with an extra dose
of adrenaline as if my senses weren’t already on high alert. Still holding the door
open, she studied me for a moment before looking over her shoulder back into the
lobby. Turning back to me, she giggled with a knowing expression and stepped
through the doorway.

“He has that effect,” she said, moving past me as the door closed.

Thank God the door blocked me from view. I smiled at her unashamed. Under
different circumstances I would have openly appreciated Gregory Michaels with any
nearby woman, or man for that matter, who had the use of their eyes. Blindness was
surely the only defense against that kind of appeal.

“Is that Mr. Michaels?” I played dumb. There was no doubt who he was. I’d spent
more time than was necessary looking at pictures of him for my research. None of
that research prepared me for my body’s reaction to him

She raised her eyebrows.

“Oh, this is your first time seeing him in person. I would tell you it gets easier, but
I’ve worked here for over a year and still get nervous around him.”

I could understand why.

I shrugged, smiling at her in the mirror.

“Thanks for the heads-up. I’m interviewing to replace his administrative assistant.”

“Lucky you! I thought they were looking to fill that position internally.” She
extended her hand. “I’m Stacy, accounting department. You better watch out. More
than one of your new coworkers will be pissed if you get the job.”

It sounded like a joke, but the look in her eyes told me she was serious.

“Claudia, Claudia Winston,” I replied as we shook hands. The last name from my
childhood felt strange on my lips.

I’d decided to use my real first name for the job, considering I was working at home
and there was always the possibility of running into someone who knew me. People
don’t typically shout out last names when they bump into acquaintances on the
street, and even if they did, a new last name was much easier to explain away.

Winston was my father’s last name. I legally changed my last name to my mother’s
maiden name after she died. It was another way to cut my father, Robert, out of my
life.

Apart from my name, the rest of my identity was entirely fake. Bridget created a
false work history, school transcripts, and credit report under a recycled social
security number, which I then used to rent a small one-bedroom apartment a few
blocks from my real one. Bridget ensured everything was in place for me to pass the
intense background check G&G’s human resources department would run if I was
considered for the position.

“Unfortunately, the yummy Mr. Michaels is only for looking at. He’s happily married
to a gorgeous saint of a woman,” Stacy said before reapplying her lipstick in the
mirror.

I contained my sarcastic laugh. Forget that his wife hired me to seduce him and was
considering divorce, the way he’d looked at me told me in no uncertain terms his
marriage was far from happy. Poor Elsa. Guilt tugged at the corners of my mind.

Another odd feeling for me. Clearly meeting my mark’s wife had more of an impact
than I’d anticipated.

“Good to know.”

I glanced at the door, wondering if the coast was clear. Of course the goal was for me
to meet him, and his initial reaction to me was far better than I could have hoped for.

The problem was my initial reaction to him. I needed to be in control. It had to be on
my terms. After all, he was just another job. He was just another job. It didn’t hurt to
remind myself a second time.

“Well, I guess I’ll see you around.” Stacy headed for the door.

I held my breath, waiting for a glimpse into the lobby from my safe vantage point.

With no sign of Mr. Michaels, I moved closer to the exit to get a better look before
the door closed. He was gone as far as I could tell. I only had a few minutes before
my meeting with Janet, so it was now or never. Inhaling deeply, I slung my bag over
my shoulder and stood tall.

I strode over to the security desk, using every ounce of the acting skills I possessed
to maintain a facade of self-assurance.

“Hi.” I smiled at the Mack truck of a security guard. “I’m Claudia Winston here to see
Mrs. Janet Peterson.”

He flashed a cocky grin, reminding me of Mr. Fantastic from Florida.

“Go on through, um, Ms. Winston,” he said, taking an obvious peek at my left hand.

Stepping through the gate, I consciously told my feet to take each step toward the
elevator. How the hell was I supposed to sit through an interview, knowing a man
who’d evoked such a tempest of emotion in me was somewhere close by? I
whispered prayers as I walked, unsure if they were to keep him away or bring him
to me.

When the elevator doors parted, it seemed they must have been the latter.

“Going up?” Mr. Michaels said, a half smile smug on his face as he leaned against the
wall. His head tilted forward and his warm honey-colored eyes glinted through long
lashes.

Fuck. Me.

EXCERPT

For what feels like long minutes, I lose myself in the feeling of Finn.  I think about
nothing but the warmth of his body enrapturing mine paired with the sweetness of
his breath, the obvious mint he must’ve had on the way over here tonight mixed
with the beers I had with him earlier. I feel the electricity on his fingers as he
touches me, holds me, but that feeling comes crashing down as soon as I feel his
hand move up my body. His fingertips are only centimeters away from the scars on
my neck. The proximity scares me because I can’t remember how it feels to have
someone else physically touching them. I recoil, bringing my right shoulder to my
ear out of habit, squeezing my eyes closed when I realize what I just did.

Shit!

He was just kissing you Olivia!

“I’m sorry; did I hurt you? I’m sorry!” Finn exclaims holding his hands up in front of
him like I’m the kissing police. The concern in his eyes is agonizing.

“No.  No, you didn’t hurt me at all.” I shake my head. Crushing my eyes closed again, I
release the breath I didn’t know I was holding. “Damnit! I’m so sorry, I just…”

“Fuck.” I whisper.

Two hands are on my head softly smoothing my hair back on each side. “Olivia, it’s
okay. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.” Finn’s hands are strong and comforting.

He makes me want to relinquish to his soft touch. Kissing him was definitely great,
until I screwed it all up.

“No, Finn you didn’t. It’s me. I just…” I take a deep breath and look down too timid to
look at him; and quite frankly, I’m just not ready to have this conversation. “It’s just
been a while….I guess.”

Maybe I’m really not ready for this.

Maybe I really don’t want it.

“I understand.” Finn tilts my head back to capture my attention. He studies me while
stroking my cheek with his thumb. “Olivia, I get that something horrible must’ve
happened to you in your past that you’re not ready to talk about, and that’s okay.
Hell, it’s okay if you never want to talk about it, but if and when you do, I’m here. I’ll
be here.”

How can he read me so well in just a short time?

He kisses my forehead, an affectionate show of compassion. “We all have parts of
our past that we wish never happened Liv, and even though sometimes I don’t want
to believe it, I have a respect for the saying ‘What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger’.”

Newest Release : To Love Jason Thorn

Jason Thorn… My brother’s childhood friend.

Oh, how stupidly in love with that boy I was. He was the first boy that made me
blush, my first official crush. Sounds beautiful so far, right? That excitement that
bubbles up inside you, those famous butterflies you feel for the very first time—he
was the reason for them all. But, you only get to live in that fairytale world until they
crush your hopes and dreams and then stomp on your heart for good measure. And
boy did he crush my little heart into pieces.

After the stomping part he became the boy I did my best to stay away from—and let
me tell you, it was pretty hard to do when he slept in the room right across from
mine.

When tragedy struck his family and they moved away, I was ready to forget he ever
existed.

Now he is a movie star, the one who makes women of all ages go into a screaming
frenzy, the one who makes everyone swoon with that dimpled smile of his. Do you
think that’s dreamy? I certainly don’t think so. How about me coming face to face
with him? Nope still not dreamy. Not when I can’t even manage to look him in the
eye.

Me? I’m Olive, a new writer. Actually, I’m THE writer of the book that inspired the
movie he is about to star in on the big screen. As of late, I am also referred to as the
oh-so-very-lucky girl who is about to become the wife of Jason Thorn.

Maybe you’re thinking yet again that this is all so dreamy? Nope, nothing dreamy
going on here. Not even close.

EXCERPT & TEASERS

“We’re done with the reading.” He put his hand on my back and urged me forward.
“Let’s go. I should have an extra shirt in my car. We’ll look at the damage as you
change and then decide if we’re going to the emergency room or not.”

“Fine, Mom,” I mumbled, and he gave me a dark look.

“Your car really looks adorable from the front,” I said, once we reached the parking
lot.

“It’s a Venom GT Spyder, Olive. It’s not an adorable car.”

I shrugged behind his back. To me, the eyes and the small mouth looked adorable.

Unlocking the doors, he leaned in and reached for something behind his seat.

A gray t-shirt.

“Take off your shirt,” he said, straightening up and turning to me.

“What?” I gaped at him.

His fingers reached out to lift the hem of my shirt, but I slapped his hand away.

“What are you doing?” I hissed quietly as two girls hurried passed his car, their
phones glued to their ears.

“Olive,” he started. “I need to see how bad it is. Take it off.”

His hands came at me again. I slapped his hand harder.

“You want me to take off my shirt out in the open?”

He met my eyes. “We’re in the parking lot. No one who isn’t supposed to be in here is
allowed to be in here. No one will see you between the SUV and my car. Go on.”

He reached at me again.

So, naturally, glaring at him, I slapped his hand even harder.

This time he laughed.

“Don’t make me take it off for you, Olive. I don’t want to hurt you.”

“Your car doesn’t even reach your chest, Jason. I doubt it will do much to hide me
from sight.”

“Face the SUV. I’ll turn around and cover your back. Or we can go straight to the ER.

Your choice.”

“No,” I snapped.

“Then do as I say.”

I narrowed my eyes at him. “You’re annoying.” After a short staring contest that only
ended up making me hot, I was the first one to turn away.

Grumbling under my breath, I gingerly lifted my shirt off of my stomach and took it
off. It wasn’t hurting as much as it had a few minutes before, but I wouldn’t say no to
rubbing some ice cubes on my chest either. Dropping the shirt to the ground, I…

Shit! The extra shirt was still in his hands.

“Hand me the damn shirt,” I whispered, looking to my left to see if anybody was
walking around.

“Why are you whispering?” he asked right over my shoulder, his hot breath tickling
my neck.

The annoying-hot-jerk chuckled when I squealed and jumped around.

“You were supposed to turn around,” I accused him hotly.

His eyes dropped to my chest. His jaw hardening, he quickly looked up and away.

“What is that?” he gritted through his teeth.

Covering my breasts with my forearm, I snapped, “They’re breasts. What does it
look like?”

About The Author

I'm an avid reader. Therefore, a big dreamer. I love nothing more than to escape real
life to find those very few magical moments in a book. I love how it has the power of
stealing your worries away, putting a smile on your face, and of course sometimes
making you crush on fictional characters. If I can manage to do even one of those
things for a reader, I will be a happy writer.

I can't even begin to describe how exciting it is to give life to new characters and fall
for them. It's a different kind of addiction I'm determined to keep alive.
I'm still searching for my own happy ending. Until that happens, I'll live vicariously
through my own characters.
